Drake Kanallakan pitched a gem to propel the Mustangs past the Mudcats 7-1.
Kanallakan was locked in a pitchers duel through four innings, as both teams remained hitless. Saint Joseph broke through in the fifth as Left fielder Aaron Dees doubled to deep-right field off the bottom of the Hy-Vee Party Deck.
Parents as Teachers took over the deck during the game to provide interactive games and activities for kids in attendance.
Right fielder Zachary Smith singled to score Dees and get the Mustangs on the scoreboard for the first run of the game.
St. Joe kept the offense rolling in the sixth. Designated hitter Malik Williams began the inning with a single. Aided by four walks the Mustangs extended the lead to four in the inning on the way to victory.
St. Joe pitchers combined to give up just one hit during the game.
The Mustangs welcomed the kids of BEST Summer Camp onto the field to sing the national anthem.
Drake Kanallakan threw seven innings of no-hit baseball with four strikeouts.
Malik Williams went 2-3 with a RBI.
Aaron Dees went 1-2 with a run scored, an RBI and a walk.
The Washington Nationals in drafted Mustang’s shortstop Colton Pogue in round 29 of the MLB draft on Wednesday.
The Mustangs are averaging 11 runs over the last four games, leading the Mink League.
St. Joe is 6-4 against the Mudcats in their last 10 games.
The Mustangs will travel to Sedalia on Thursday night foe their first matchup of the season with the Sedalia Bombers
