CHILLICOTHE, Mo. – Michael Lydon-Lorson toed the rubber throwing seven innings for St. Joseph on Tuesday night as the Mustangs defeated the Mudcats 4-2.
Lydon-Lorson won the game after giving up two runs, one that was earned, on five hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts.
Mustang’s shortstop Evan McDonald continued his hot streak going 3-5 with a double, two stolen bases, and two runs.
Capitalizing on three Chillicothe errors, three of St. Joseph’s runs were unearned toward Mudcats’ pitchers.
Playing third base, Davey Casciola had two sacrifice flies to score two runs for St. Joe.
St. Joseph’s pitching staff issued three walks, while the bullpen allowed no runs and no hits.
Steve D’Amico earned a save in the ninth after getting help from his defense on a couple of infield flies.
The Mustangs improve to 25-8 with a 18-8 record in the MINK North and a two and half game lead over the second place Chillicothe Mudcats. St. Joe leads the Mudcats 2-0 in the 2016 series.
Tomorrow night the Mustangs will take on MINK South opponent Nevada Griffons to start a four game stretch at home. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
