The North scored five times in the third inning to pull away from the South.
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Mustangs were well-represented in the 2nd MINK All-Star Game Thursday night as the North cruised to a 9-2 win over the South.
Evan McDonald led off the bottom of the first with a single, then came up again in the third with a two-run triple to the gap in left center to open the scoring. McDonald's 2-3 night, along with some smooth plays on defense earned him MVP honors in the All-Star Game.
John Millan entered in the top of the fourth after the North took the lead, and he tossed a perfect inning to keep the South in check.
Brett Marr subbed in for McDonald at shortstop in the fifth inning, and he finished the night with a hit and a run scored.
Tyler Cox walked and scored a run. Brady Anderson ended the game with an RBI, and Kyle Uhrich drew a walk for the North in the seventh.
Mustangs' reliever Jake Purl pitched the top of the ninth, allowing one run in the frame.
In the early portion of the festivities, St. Joe's Louis Mele reached the semifinal round of the home run derby after hitting 22 homers in his first appearance at the plate. He hit 10 more bombs in the semis, but was knocked out by the eventual derby champion Nick Banman.
