SAINT JOSEPH, Mo. – The St. Joseph Mustangs snapped a three game losing streak on Monday night against the Military All-Stars winning 4-3 in the twelfth inning on an error.
Orencio Fisher scored the winning run after being hit by a pitch to lead off the eleventh inning.
Designated hitter Kyle Uhrich had the game winning at-bat on a ground ball to All-Star pitcher Bodacious Ball. Ball fielded the ball, but threw the ball away from first baseman Chris Johnson scoring Fisher.
The Military All-Stars had no bench players, and Ball threw 11 innings allowing 10 hits, four runs, three runs that were earned, on 11 hits, ten strikeouts, five walks, a hit batter, all on 182 pitches.
St. Joe held a 2-0 lead until the fifth inning when the All-Stars scored two runs to tie the game on a fielder’s choice and error by Mustangs’ second baseman Brett Marr.
In the eleventh inning, left handed pitcher Jonathan Lynch gave up a run after committing an error and loading the bases. Lynch then hit a batter with the bases juiced to put the All-Stars up 3-2.
In the bottom of the eleventh the Mustangs came roaring back and tied the game 3-3 on an RBI single by Jacob Richardson who came in to pinch hit for centerfielder Clayton Risch.
Jacob Hurst got the start for St. Joseph going deep into the game with eight innings pitched, two runs, one earned run, seven hits, six strikeouts, and two walks.
Lynch earned his first win of the season throwing four innings of relief with one unearned run, two hits, three strikeouts, two walks and two hit batters.
The Mustangs will play a double header tomorrow in Springfield, Mo. against the Ozark Generals with game one’s first pitch at 6 p.m.
