The MINK League expands for the first time since 2014.
UPDATE: The MINK League will proceed in 2017 with only eight teams.
The Branson Nationals are suspending play in the league for the upcoming season as the organization addresses the possibility of options for new ownership in upcoming seasons.
The Nationals' absence in the South Division will be filled by the newly acquired Jefferson City Renegades.
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The MINK League has bolstered an already strong group of teams with another presence in mid-Missouri.
The Jefferson City Renegades were formally introduced as the ninth member of the summer college baseball league Saturday afternoon at the annual MINK League meetings in St. Joseph.
The Renegades become the first expansion team since the Branson Nationals were added in 2014.
The Renegades will be led by manager Mike DeMilia, a former assistant at Truman State and head coach at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. He'll be assisted by Rusty Creed.
Their home games will be held at Vivion Field at Washington Park in Jefferson City.
MINK members will also set the league schedule during the meetings in St. Joseph over the weekend. To purchase your 2017 Mustangs season tickets at a limited time discounted price, call (816) 279-7856.
