The bats came to life as the Mustangs opened up the season with a 9-1 win over the Midwest A’s.
The win came in front of a club record breaking opening day crowd of 4,889 fans at Phil Welch Stadium. This broke the previous record 4,493 set in 2016.
The Mustangs entered the bottom of the second trailing 1-0. A steal set up outfielder Jacob Richardson to tie the game up.
Soon after, catcher Matt Wollonick and outfielder Brody Santrill found home giving the Mustangs a 3-1 lead heading into the third inning.
Two more runs by infielder Brett Marr and outfielder Brody Santilli combined with runs by Richardson and infielder Patrick Dillon launched the Mustangs into their first win of the year.
The Mustangs host the Kansas City Monarchs, Tomorrow, June 1 at 7 p.m. The first 250 fans will receive a Mustangs Kozzie courtesy of Harris Heating and Cooling.
