A complete game shutout by Steve D’Amico advanced the Mustangs to the organization’s sixth MINK Championship series in a 11-0 victory over the Sedalia Bombers.
The Mustangs were locked into this do or die game as they struck first and never looked back.
Matt Wollnik was driven in by Colton Pogue on a fielders choice for the first run of the game in the bottom of the first.
The second was the same story for the Mustangs, as they scored once again as Brody Santilli scored on a Brady Anderson sack fly making the score 2-0.
Pogue found success again at the plate in the third as he lined a shot to the right field gap for a triple scoring Wollnik once again. Pogue was brought in on a two out sackfly giving the Mustangs a 4-0 lead.
The 4-0 lead lasted until the seventh before the floodgates opened. Anderson started the onslaught as he doubled down the leftfield line bringing the score to 5-0. With the help of mother nature, Sedalia’s centerfielder lost the ball allowing Pogue to reach second once again as two more scored.
The offense kept going strong as the Mustangs were able to load the bases allowing Jacob Richardson to come through in the clutch as a single brought home two to make the score 9-0.
The fun didn’t stop there as Santilli got in on the action with a two RBI single to complete the seven run seventh inning ending the scoring on both sides.
Steve D’Amico held the Bombers in check as he completed a whole game shutout only allowing five hits, constantly stranding runners.
