The St. Joseph Mustangs are proud to announce the kickoff of their annual reading program. Last year’s reading program saw almost 4,000 area elementary school students read close to 60,000 books.
This year the Mustangs are proud to announce that students who read a minimum of ten grade level books will receive a ticket to Mustangs Opening Day 2018, plus number of prizes from area partners. This years partners include Chick-Fil-A, PowerPlay, Worlds of Fun,Toys R Us, Chuck E Cheese, Aspen Leaf, East Hills Shopping Center and Little Caesars.
Mustangs General Manager Ky Turner says the program has had continued success.
“Reading is such an important life skill. This program has been such a fun way to reach out to children in the community, encouraging students to read with a rewarding experience, but also support the hard working teachers in our area.” Turner said. “Visiting the schools, delivering stacks of awesome prizes each spring, as well as seeing the line of students on Opening Day to throw out a first pitch because they read the most books in their school- this program is a favorite of ours.”
Schools can also book the Mustangs school assembly at no cost, featuring the Mustangs very own fun and interactive book, Rally’s Homecoming, featuring Mustang’s Mascot, Rally. This year's theme is accepting others, and yourself-, and to not bully others.. There is no cost for schools to participate in the program.
