Brady Garrison stepped to the plate in the sixth inning of a tie game with runners on second and third. The catcher delivered a two RBI double to give the Mustangs the lead. St. Joseph tacked on three more runs before the final out was recorded in the inning and took a commanding four-run lead.
The sixth inning offensive explosion propelled the Mustangs past the Griffons by an 8-4 final. The win caps off a 3-1 Opening Week at home.
The Mustangs were in an early deficit for the second straight night. With the bases loaded in the fourth, first baseman Alex Phillips crushed a two RBI double to get the home team on the board.
The Mustangs donned special Pink Jerseys as they raised money for local breast cancer patients during the game. Fans enjoyed the Mosaic Life Care fireworks spectacular following the Mustangs victory.
Second baseman Josh Lincoln went 1-2 with a single and two walks.
Center Fielder Mason Janvrin went 2-5 and scored two runs.
Alex Phillips went 2-4 with two RBI.
Mason Janvrin has hit .444 over the first two games of the season series against the Griffons.
Janvrin collected another stolen base adding to his team lead of six.
Chris Pogue added another RBI to his team lead of four.
The Mustangs will travel to Nevada on Monday night to finish off their series with the Griffons.
St. Joe will be back home at 7 p.m. Wednesday night for a matchup against the Chillicothe Mudcats.
