The St. Joseph Mustangs work collaboratively with colleges to offer internships to highly motivated and committed students who wish to build upon their college education with practical work experience in the fast-paced, results driven world of sports. Please note we begin filling the positions as soon as possible.
The internship program offers students opportunities for personal, technical and professional development and practical, “hands on” experience working under the guidance of the St. Joseph Mustangs front office staff. Students learn technical skills, knowledge and behaviors critical to successful performance on the job. We accept candidates from all major areas of study for internships.
Past interns have gone on to work for the Kansas City Royals, Houston Texans, Tulsa Drillers, Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Sprint Center-not to mention the many others that have ventured into other fields outside of sports, such as advertising, accounting, banking, public relations, and upper level management positions with reputable companies across the country.
The ideal candidate should have:

The ability to receive academic credit for the internship and thrive in a service industry environment.

Current enrollment in an accredited College or University.

The ability to work flexible hours during the work week and weekends, including all Mustangs home baseball games and other Mustang events from May 15- August 1st.

In addition to the summer internships, the Mustangs are searching for a front office intern during the 2024 spring academic calendar with flexible office hours, as well as a graphic design intern immediately.
2024 Fall, Spring, and Summer Internships Opportunities
Press Box Manager
Operate scoreboard on occasion, clean and maintain press box area, work with Mustangs concessions to cater press box. Work alongside Mustangs press box staff and local media. Ensure all in-game promotions and music are correct, as well as Public Address script. Write nightly game stories for all 2024 home games.
Social Media Intern
Manage all platforms of social media for the Mustangs in a responsible and timely manner. Provide game updates during both home and away games, and attend outside events.
Box Office Manager-stipend available
Attend all Mustangs events, operate and manage box office, ticket sales, organize tickets by game, handle money, file post-game financial reports, organize Will Call window, manage box office employees, and report payroll.
Hours: Monday-Friday 10am-5pm (non-game days) Game Days 10am-box office close.
Promotions
Your chance to be on the field in front of thousands, providing entertainment on the field. Prepare, produce, and fulfill all game-day promotions. This includes games on the field between innings, as well as pre and post-game promotions. Must have excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to interact with fans.
Live Game Webcast Color/Play by Play
Broadcast of Mustang baseball games to be broadcast live on the Internet. Must research players and teams before each game and possess advanced knowledge of baseball. Will often have to work the camera in addition to broadcast duties.
Guest Services
A roving position, where you will learn the ins and outs of a baseball team. You may work at the box office, measuring fan satisfaction, servicing a large group, or placed in a different position as needed on a nightly basis.
Public Relations Intern
Work with radio and an official scorekeeper on recording, organizing, and distributing statistics, including making a nightly game-day stat sheet to be distributed to all fans. Distribute post-game reports to the media.
Graphic Design/Digital Media
Create various documents and images, using creative skills and design. Take photos at Mustangs' home baseball games. An opportunity to build your portfolio and display your work in front of thousands.
Group Sales Manager-stipend available
Attend all Mustang events, manage ticket distribution (both season tickets and group outings). Act as the host on game nights. Secure, clean, and organize groups in group seating areas. Communicate with Mustangs' concessions on deck and group attendance to schedule food orders, as well as contacting corporate group leaders. Assist box office manager on accounts payable. Manage issues that arise with groups. Manage Mustangs Fan Fest preseason event, and MINK League All-Star Game and Home Run Derby. Hours: Monday-Friday 10 am-5 pm (non-game days) Game Days 10 am-box office close.
Stadium Operations
Assist Stadium Operations Manager in game-day operations, such as field preparation, and other projects around the stadium. A vital job in making sure the stadium is clean on a nightly basis.
Accounting Director
Organize and direct sponsor contract fulfillment, create sponsor invoices, and oversee the collection. Organize change boxes. Create a daily deposit. Create and enter daily cash reports. Collaborate with credit card companies on the settlement. Create an end of season recap.
Mascot Assistant
Assist Rally, the mascot of the Mustangs in various functions- ensuring the mascot is in the proper place in specific times, as well as safe from any hazards. Opportunity to perform as Rally if needed.
