An Outstanding Start to the season!

Your St Joe Mustangs are starting the season strong with a 2-0

record and leading the Mink League. With so much Mustang madness to talk about, let's start from the beginning.

On Wednesday, Fanfest was a blast, with a ton of activity to behold at Phil Welsh Stadium. Eli won the Homerun Derby with eight outstanding home runs! A heartfelt speech by Ky and an induction of Mustangs Founder Dan Gerson to be this year's St. Joseph Baseball Hall Of Fame Inductee.

The VIP Suite will be renamed the Dan Gerson Family Suite, and the Mustangs will wear new black-and-white caps that are an ode to Dan's love of the Chicago White Sox.

The final announcement would be the new 1939 Club, a membership-style club in which all donations would be used to beautify and maintain the stadium that Dan loved. The club's first goal is to raise $65,000 toward a brand-new scoreboard. If you want to donate or learn more about the 1939 club, please visit https://www.stjoemustangs.com/1939-club.

Moving on to the games, the Mustangs would play their home opener against the Baldwin City Blues. The home opener turned out to be a Mustang masterclass in baseball, as they would go on to dominate the Blues in the home opener.

The Mustangs wouldn't only shut out the Blues, they would also have the game called in the eighth inning, as the final run would be walked in. Your player of the game would be center fielder Trevor McCollum, who went one for two at the plate with two RBIs and a triple.

In today's game, the Chillicothe Mudcats came to Phil Welsh Stadium to debut the St Joe Tenderloins, and they didn't disappoint. The Mudcats started early, with a two-run lead in the first, and shut out the Tenderloins in the first three innings.

That would end, however, when Jeter Mauzey went to the plate in the fourth and demolished the first home run for the 2024 Tenderloins. This would quickly be matched in the top of the fifth by Mudcats center fielder Julio Gurrero, who would launch his home run.

But that is where the Mudcats' luck ran out, as Jorden Black, Barson Schrack, Jater Mauzey, and Jackson Glueck combined for five more runs, four in the fifth and one in the eighth.

Your Tenderloins player of the game is Jeter Mauzey, with two hits, two RBIs, and a demolished home run that was pretty sure was never found.

The Mustang's 2-0 record will be tested tomorrow against the Jefferson City Renegades at 7:00 PM at Phil Welsh Stadium!

If you can't catch your St Joe Mustangs in person, fear not, as the Mustangs are streaming every home game at 7:00 PM on YouTube! If you want to see your Mustangs or Tenderloins wherever you go, click https://www.youtube.com/@StJosephMustangs/streams.
