Mustangs accede the A's

The St Joe Mustangs beat their place rivals, the Clarida A's, in a 6-5 victory.


The Mustangs' overall record extends to 34-7, and their conference record extends to 30-7.


The Mustangs kept the A's at bay with five pitchers, keeping the A's guessing as the Mustangs' offense came in clutch.


The Mustangs started the scoring in the second inning with an Easton Bruce sacrifice fly and Carson Schmidt scoring on a wild pitch to lead 2-0 in the second inning.


The A's pulled ahead in the third inning with a double and a single to lead 2-3.


Bruce reached first on an error in the fourth, and Darius Freeman and Frank Gall scored to lead in the fourth 4-3. The A's tied the game in the bottom fourth with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 4.


Schmidt doubled in the fifth to score Mason Holton for the Mustangs to lead 5-4. The A's tied it in the sixth as Bronco Witt walked in a run to tie the game at 5.


Jackson Glueck singled in the seventh to score Holton to lead 6-5. The Mustangs wouldn't let the A's lead after that, with Bronco Witt and Jace Johnson keeping the A's at bay to win 6-5.


Your Mustangs player of the game was Easton Bruce, who had three RBIs.


The Mustangs return to Phil Welch to resume Monday's game and the Tenderloin's final game against the Warren County Crop Dusters.


Gates open at 5 for the Mustangs game, which resumes at 5:30. The Tenderloins will play at 7 p.m.
