The St Joe Mustangs and St Joe Tenderloins beat the Warren County Crop Dusters in today's doubleheader with a Mustangs shutout 5-0 and a Tenderloin win 8-3.
The Mustang's overall record improved to 36-7, while their conference record improved to 32-7. With this, the Mustangs clinch the one seed in the MINK league.
The makeup game started 3-0 courtesy of Darius Freeman and Carson Schmidt scoring on wild pitches in the first and Freeman hitting a sacrifice fly in the second inning to score Truman Bodenhausen.
The Mustangs extended their lead in the fifth when T. Bodenhausen singled, and Noah Bodenhausen walked in a run to make the game 5-0.
Denton Biller and Roy Holcomb combined for a seven-inning shutout, giving up six hits and recording ten strikeouts in the first-game win.
In the second game, the St Joe Tenderloins suited up to face the Mustang's previous foes.
The Tenderloins started early in the first inning with Jeter Mauzey's RBI single and continued in the second inning with Trevor McCollum scoring on Ean McDaniel's balk for a 2-0 lead.
The Crop Dusters take the lead in the third after a passed ball and a two-RBI double for a 2-3 deficit.
The Tenderloins pulled ahead in the fifth after a throwing error by the Crop Dusters' catcher, Garrett Haying, scores Carson Schrack. Jackson Glueck's single to center scores Mauzey to lead 4-3 in the fifth.
The Tenderloins extend their lead with a bases-clearing double by Mason Holton. Schrack singled to score Holton, extending the Tenderloins lead to 8-3.
Andrew Clark closed out the Crop Dusters in the seventh, giving up a hit and watching a pop fly to Mauzey to see the Tenderloins go 4-4 in all their appearances.
Your Tenderloins player of the game is Carson Schrack, who went 3-4 at the plate and was a part of a crucial double play in the seventh.
The Mustangs return to Phil Welch tomorrow for a Christmas in July showdown against the Clarinda A's at 7:00 p.m.
