The St Joe Mustangs started the season with three wins at Phil Welsh Stadium. They played their first game on the road tonight against the Carroll Merchants at Merchant Park.
The scoring started early, with Ike Book rocking a single, leading to Carson Schrack scoring for an early Mustangs lead.
The third, fourth, and seventh innings were a nightmare for the Mustangs. After a home run in the third, an RBI in the fourth, and a wild pitch score in the seventh, the Mustangs found themselves down 1-3 with the end of the game nearing.
At the top of the ninth, when the Mustangs' game looked grim, Dom Felix destroyed Merchant's two-run lead by blasting a two-run home run, leading the extra innings.
Once the top of the 11th came around, the Mustangs' bats came to life, and the runs kept coming after Schrack scored on a catcher's error.
Schrack's rally would ignite three more runs. Those runs would come from Logan Miller, Truman Bodenhaus, and Noah Bodenhaus, three singles, taking the lead 7-3
The Merchants rallied for one more run and ended in a Mustangs win 7-4. Your Mustangs player of the game is Dom Felix, for his two-run home run in the ninth inning.
The Mustangs will again head to Shaffer Park tomorrow for a rematch with the Chillicothe Mudcats at 7:05 pm.
