ST. JOSEPH, MO. -- The 2021 MINK League Champions will return to Phil Welch Stadium in 2022. And now, you can go ahead and mark your calendars for the summer nights you can catch the team in action.
The Mustangs will begin with Fan Fest at Phil Welch Stadium on Tuesday, May 31st. This free, fan friendly experience is open to the general public. Additional details on the event will be released on the team social media accounts and website.
The team will officially kick off the season the following night for Mustangs Opening Day; Wednesday, June 1st. The team will open with last year’s MINK League North Division regular season champ, the Clarinda A’s. The schedule sees the team return to the field for 26 regular season home dates. The Chillicothe Mudcats will return for its annual matchup on July 3rd, as well as the Sedalia Bombers on July 4th. The Mustangs welcome MINK League newcomer the Carroll Merchants to St. Joseph on Friday, June 24th. The MINK League playoffs will take place the final week of July, as the Mustangs will try to win a third straight MINK League Championship.
“It was wonderful to be back in 2021. We were just happy to be playing. But the incredible story book ending and journey that last years team took us on, has set the table for 2022. I don’t think anyone wanted the season to end last year. We look to carry that momentum into this year,” said Mustangs President Ky Turner. “It’s like attending a family reunion once those gates open up and you can smell the hot dogs cooking on the grill, the voice of Greg Kastner over the loudspeakers, and Coach Coy leading his team out on the field. We also have some fun surprises we’ll unveil over this spring and summer, to continue to enhance each visit to a Mustangs game at Phil Welch Stadium.”
